Conflict and Division

Pastor Matt Tarr – PM Sermon

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:10-17

Every which way we turn, there seems to be conflict. Factions and dissentions over petty disagreements poison relationships and destroy the flock of God. The church in Corinth was no different, and Paul gives careful instruction on the importance of Christian unity.

Rejecting Prophecy

Pastor Matt Tarr – AM Sermon

Scripture: Mark 14:27-31

As Jesus and His disciples left from their final meal together, Jesus gives a final shocking prophecy: they will all desert Him and fall away. But even though their desertion will be painful for Jesus, it is by God’s design that He would be the good shepherd who’d scatter the flock of Israel.

Why You Should Love the Church

Pastor Matt Tarr – PM Sermon

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:4-9

As Paul begins his letter to the church in Corinth, there is an important lesson for the believer today. No matter how bad or weak a church is, if it is indeed a church, we can express authentic love and thankfulness for the graces God has given them.

Lasts and Firsts

Pastor Matt Tarr – AM Sermon

Scripture: Mark 14:22-26

As Jesus eats with His disciples in the last legitimate Passover meal, He establishes one of two ordinances for the church. However, there has been a lot of confusion about the significance of what communion actually is, and what it communicates about the uniqueness of the church.

A Reason to Love the Church

Pastor Matt Tarr – PM Sermon

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:3-9

The church in Corinth had every resource available to be a faithful and mature congregation. Instead, it was marked by sin, immaturity, and pride. Nevertheless, as Paul opens his letter, he expresses authentic love and thankfulness not because of who they are, but because of Christ in them.

For the Love of Christ and the Church

Pastor Matt Tarr – PM Sermon

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 1:1-3

Paul writes to the church in Corinth, where he once spent eighteen months ministering and equipping the flock. But now they had adopted an easy-believism gospel, and looked more like the world than saints of God. Now, as is the case with many churches, they were in desperate need of revitalization!

Death Plans

Pastor Matt Tarr – AM Sermon

Scripture: Mark 14:1-9

As Jesus concludes His Olivet Discourse, plans to betray and crucify Him are gaining traction. Of course, even plans to crucify Christ don’t contradict God’s plan, as a flashback to just a few days earlier shows that God was preparing His Son for burial even before He entered Jerusalem.

A Reformed Resolution

Guest Speaker: Dan Tarr – AM Sermon

Scripture: Selected Scriptures

As we celebrate the 500th Anniversary of the Protestant Reformation this year, Dan Tarr encourages the church to make a renewed commitment to the same principal of sola scriptura. The Word of God alone is our authority.
